Self-discipline; some of us have it, some of us think we have it and some of us know damn well we don’t possess a single bit of it. It is defined as the ability to control one’s feelings and overcome one’s weaknesses. Although simple enough to understand, self-discipline can be a very difficult thing to practice. We all have those moments where we know we should get up and go work out but we’re just “too tired”, we know we shouldn’t eat this food but “It’s just this one time”. Those moments when we know we can push ourselves and our bodies harder but we just can’t be bothered, and this is where the problem lies.
We come up with excuses only because we don’t have the will power to do what we know needs to be done. This is by far the biggest hurdle you will need to overcome when you are trying to alter your lifestyle and change bad habits. Even with the best of intentions and all of the enthusiasm you cannot reach your goals if you don’t make the necessary adjustments to your mind set.
Self-discipline can be the difference between success and failure. It is the one thing you will need in order to progress and achieve your body goals. By practicing self-discipline in your pursuit of a healthy lifestyle you may develop a holistically self-disciplined approach to everyday life, whether it is your personal relationships or even in your work. All in all self-discipline can only better your life.
